How to Brew the Perfect Cup of Kangra Green Tea | Wah Tea Estate

There’s something quietly beautiful about brewing tea — the rhythm of boiling water, the swirl of leaves, and that first rising fragrance. For us at Wah Tea Estate, it’s more than a routine; it’s a small daily ritual that connects you directly to the garden where your tea was grown.
Kangra Green Tea is known for its delicate flavour — light, floral, and naturally calming. But to truly enjoy it, it helps to brew it right. Here’s how to make the perfect cup at home.
Start with good tea and good water
Begin with fresh, high-quality Kangra Green Tea — ideally, single-estate and minimally processed (like ours).
Water quality makes a difference too; use filtered or spring water if possible.
For one cup (about 200 ml), measure half to one teaspoon of loose-leaf tea.
Mind the temperature
Green tea is delicate and should never be brewed with boiling water.
Let the water cool slightly — around 80°C to 85°C (that’s when you can comfortably keep your hand over the steam for 2–3 seconds).
Pour gently over the leaves to allow them to unfurl and release their aroma.
Brewing time matters
Let the tea steep for 2 to 3 minutes — not more. Over-steeping brings out bitterness and masks the tea’s natural sweetness.
If you prefer a stronger brew, simply use a few more leaves next time rather than increasing the brewing time.
Enjoy it mindfully
Strain the tea into your cup and take a moment before you sip. Notice the colour — a clear golden-green — and the aroma that carries hints of the mountains.
You don’t need sugar, honey, or lemon; Kangra Green Tea is best enjoyed plain. Its soft, grassy notes and gentle sweetness are part of its charm.
A small tip from the garden
We often tell visitors at The Tea Room at Wah that the best cup of tea is one you pause for. The leaves you’re drinking were hand-plucked on the slopes of Palampur, with the snow-capped Dhauladhars in the distance.
When you brew them slowly, you carry a bit of that calm into your day.
